Australian wine producers and winemakers are set to return to Kuala Lumpur this October for the Australian Wine Showcase Southeast Asia 2026, offering Malaysian trade partners an opportunity to explore the diversity of Australian wine, from distinctive regional expressions and grape varieties to new and emerging wine styles.
Taking place on 14 October 2026 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the event is part of a six city tour across Southeast Asia, with stops in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Manila and Jakarta between 5 and 16 October. Guided by the theme “Taste Beyond”, the Showcase encourages importers, distributors, retailers, sommeliers, hospitality professionals and other industry partners to look beyond familiar choices and discover the people, places and stories that shape Australia’s wine industry.
The event comes at a time of growing interest in Australian wine in Malaysia. In the year ending June 2026, Australian wine exports to Malaysia reached A$55.1 million, representing a 29.9 per cent increase over the previous year. The Showcase’s return to Kuala Lumpur also reflects the expansion of the Southeast Asia programme, which has grown to cover six markets in 2026.
Building on the 2024 programme, which attracted almost 800 trade visitors across four Southeast Asian markets, this year’s expanded Showcase aims to create more opportunities for Australian producers and regional trade partners to build relationships, exchange insights and explore new business opportunities.
“We’re looking forward to hearing directly from our partners about what they’re seeing in their markets, what matters to them, and where they see opportunities for Australian wine,” said Sarah Roberts, Regional Manager for Asia Pacific at Wine Australia.
“Every market has its own character, so travelling across six cities gives our producers the opportunity to have meaningful conversations across the region. At the same time, we hope to introduce our trade partners to something they may not have encountered before, whether that is a new region, variety, producer or style.”
Australia’s wine industry is shaped by a remarkable range of growing conditions across 65 wine regions. Differences in climate, soil, elevation and geography influence the character of each region’s wines, creating a broad spectrum of styles, from elegant cool climate wines to expressive varieties grown in warmer conditions.
This diversity extends beyond geography. Australia’s winemaking traditions continue to evolve as established expertise meets fresh thinking and experimentation. Producers are exploring alternative grape varieties, developing wines from emerging regions and embracing new approaches to winemaking, while placing greater emphasis on sustainable vineyard and production practices.
Together, these qualities make Australian wine an ever evolving category, offering trade professionals opportunities to discover new products, broaden their selections and introduce consumers to wines that reflect both Australia’s heritage and its forward looking spirit.

Australian wine also offers versatility across a wide range of cuisines, dining occasions and consumer preferences. Its freshness, balance and food friendly character make it well suited to Malaysia’s vibrant food culture, where diverse culinary traditions create opportunities for exciting food and wine pairings. From familiar favourites to lesser known varieties and styles, Australian wines offer plenty of possibilities for consumers and industry professionals to explore.
Beyond showcasing the range of wines available, the Australian Wine Showcase Southeast Asia 2026 provides a platform for meaningful engagement between producers and trade partners. By bringing the industry together across six markets, the programme aims to strengthen regional connections and encourage a deeper understanding of the opportunities within Australian wine.

The Australian Wine Showcase Southeast Asia 2026 will also visit the following cities:
- Bangkok, Thailand: 5 October 2026
- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: 7 October 2026
- Hanoi, Vietnam: 9 October 2026
- Manila, Philippines: 12 October 2026
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: 14 October 2026
- Jakarta, Indonesia: 16 October 2026
With each market bringing its own wine culture, consumer preferences and business opportunities, the six city programme offers Australian producers a valuable opportunity to connect with partners across Southeast Asia while introducing the region’s wine trade to the breadth and diversity of Australian wine.
