Spanish gastronomy takes centre stage in Malaysia with the official launch of Eat Spain Drink Spain 2026, taking place from September 18 to October 4. The second edition of the nationwide campaign brings together more than 40 culinary events, special menus and wine tasting experiences, while also celebrating the continued growth of the Restaurants From Spain (RFS) certified network in Malaysia.
The launch was held today at Barra restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, where the Spanish Ambassador Designate, Mr. Sergi Ferré, presented Barra with the official RFS authentic seal awarded by ICEX Spain Trade and Investment. With Barra joining the network, Malaysia now has eight RFS certified dining destinations, further expanding access to authentic Spanish cuisine across the country.
“Today’s launch of Eat Spain Drink Spain 2026 and the certification of Barra as our 8th RFS establishment highlight the rapid growth of Spanish culinary culture in Malaysia,” stated the Ambassador-Designate, Mr. Sergi Ferré. “What has allowed Spanish gastronomy to thrive for thousands of years is innovation. That forward-thinking spirit defines Spain; you cannot reach this level of culinary excellence without science and technology.”
Authentic Spanish Dining in Malaysia

The Restaurants From Spain certification is a mark of authenticity that ensures diners can enjoy genuine Spanish recipes, quality imported ingredients and Spanish wines. Restaurants seeking the certification undergo a strict quality control process covering ingredients, recipes, preparation methods and the professional standards of their teams.
The certification committee in Spain oversees the process and guarantees the traceability and transparency of the accreditation based on established technical criteria.
With Barra joining the network, the Restaurants From Spain certified dining destinations in Malaysia now include:
• Barra, Chinatown KL: Sophisticated tapas served in a joyful environment.
• Bocado, Damansara: Elegant cuisine inspired by the flavours of Galicia.
• La Fiesta by Marta’s Kitchen, Genting Highlands: A festive culinary destination offering a taste of Spain in the highlands.
• Marta’s Kitchen, Hartamas: Exquisite Spanish food served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
• Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar, Mont Kiara: A vibrant dining experience inspired by the atmosphere of a real Spanish food market.
• Pinchos Tapas, Bukit Bintang: Lively Spanish tapas and the energy of a night out.

• Vermut, Bukit Bintang: A cosy setting offering classic tapas and Spanish favourites.
In addition to the eight certified restaurants, Deli, La Tasca del Mercat is Malaysia’s first retail establishment to receive the Colmados From Spain certification. The prestigious certification recognises gourmet shops and grocers that provide access to authentic Spanish products and premium ingredients, allowing consumers to enjoy certified products from Spain at home.
